Fuente de la Samaritana. Source of the Samaritan

The Source of the Samaritana of Zaragoza, it is a sculptural source fused in iron for Antonio Averly, foundryman born in Lyons, in 1866 in Averly's workshops of Zaragoza. It is a question of a monumental source that it represents a samaritana or water carrier of approximately two meters of height and that it spills water for two pitchers that it takes, one subject on the straight and different shoulder in the left hip.

Initially it was in the square of the Cathedral of the Cathedral of the city, but in 1960 it was moved to the Plaza of the Justicia, where he is at present. It is inspired in topics and habitual motives of the Second French Empire. 

The statue is of neoclassic style and paganizante, and is represented as a nymph dressed in a slight tunic that remembers the Greco-Roman gowns. The water basin that surrounds it was in a beginning of iron, but after his movement to the new emplacement of the Plaza of the Justicia, was replaced with one of cement, which is the one that it preserves in his present condition.

La Fuente de la Samaritana de Zaragoza,es una fuente escultórica fundida en hierro por Antonio Averly, fundidor nacido en Lyon, en 1866 en los talleres de Averly de Zaragoza. Se trata de una fuente monumental que representa a una samaritana o aguadora de unos dos metros de altura y que vierte agua por dos cántaros que lleva, uno sujeto sobre el hombro derecho y otro en la cadera izquierda.

Inicialmente estuvo en la plaza de la Catedral de la Seo de la ciudad, pero en 1960 fue trasladada a la Plaza del Justicia, donde se encuentra en la actualidad.

Está inspirada en temas y motivos habituales del Segundo Imperio Francés. La estatua es de estilo neoclásico y paganizante, y está representada como una ninfa vestida con una leve túnica que recuerda las vestimentas grecolatinas.

El pilón de agua que la rodea fue en un principio de hierro, pero después de su traslado al nuevo emplazamiento de la Plaza del Justicia, fue sustituido por uno de cemento, que es el que conserva en su estado presente.
